What is the Universal Serial Bus all about?
1. connect a device to a computer
2. supply the device with power.
This week's USB gadget benefit from the power supply. The USBCell is a rechargeable battery and it can be recharged with our USB port.
We need batteries for all kinds of devices such as digital cameras or flashlights. If you have some sort of environmental consciousness, you use rechargeable batteries. Common batteries need a charge adaptor to get recharged, but USBCells doesn't. Just pop up the top and plug it in our USB port. It will take about 5 hours to fully charge a USBCell. USBCell.com offers a variety of batteries such as AA, AAA, 9V batteries and even cell phone batteries.
However I wonder: If you plug a USBCell into your computer at work, could you get sacked for stealing electricity?

thanksss
December 17, 2008 9:02 PM
haha, thats cool! I like the lego's they have too.
December 18, 2008 2:21 PM
That's one useful gadget, I only wish it could charge faster. Too bad you didn't post the price.
December 18, 2008 9:02 PM
That's not a bad idea. Five hours isn't that bad compared to my current battery charger that usually takes about 8-10 hours to fully charge a set of batteries.
December 19, 2008 11:42 AM
Hey there. Now that is awesome. I don't think the 5 hours is all that bad, considering that you can charge batteries while working on a comp or laptop, of if you have a game console with USB ports, you can charge em there too. Great stuffs.
December 19, 2008 12:29 PM
That is a great concept and idea!! Great find.
December 20, 2008 1:44 AM
Mice a duo USB toy! Great find!
December 24, 2008 12:29 AM
I'm loving this little gizmo...reminds me of something out of a James Bond movie.
December 24, 2008 1:17 AM
Well USB's do come handy..! very useful during traveling ...!thanks for sharing..!
December 25, 2008 1:16 AM
Honestly, this is one of the best inventions I've seen so far! I wonder how much power it can contain compared to a real battery. And what the life expectancy is of the usb batteries. It would be a perfect pit for my digital camera which just eats up batteries.
December 27, 2008 2:47 PM
charging batteries via a usb port is simply genius. might come in handy for me one day since i carry my laptop on all my vacations and trips and always seem to be running out of batteries for camera.
December 28, 2008 12:37 AM
really simple gadget, how much is the price?
December 28, 2008 4:08 AM
Man I really love these usb batteries, they should sell these at the stores!
December 29, 2008 5:01 AM
Cool gadget! It's like the USB-charged flash drive plus mp3 player with earphones. :-)
December 29, 2008 11:34 PM
Cool Device... I once stole energy from my work but no one found out. Probably about 4 KWh for 50 cents worth.
Anyway, now see my device!

Neat product. I have 2 boys under 2 and we go through batteries like water around here!
January 3, 2009 11:17 PM
What an awesome idea!
I wish I was the one to come up with this product because it is going to be a monster seller! I'm always complaining about being out of batteries.

I'll get myself and my kids some sets of these batteries. We have 3 computers in the house and there's always shortage of sockets. Hopefully, we won't be having a shortage on USB ports as well. Thanks for sharing.
January 10, 2009 4:58 PM
Wow..this certainly looks awesome. I am looking forward in buying that,
January 10, 2009 10:31 PM
Great gadget - but this week is turning out to be one of the longest in history :p No seriously hope all is okay - haven't seen you here for a while now...
January 12, 2009 3:42 AM
This is simply cool, dude.
January 12, 2009 10:52 PM
That is really handy, I'm always running out of batteries and regular battery chargers are usually bulky units that are a hassle to keep around.
They look pretty cool too.
January 15, 2009 4:02 PM
Thats a really neat gadget, any idea how many hours of life on a full charge?
January 17, 2009 4:05 AM
WOW!!! now this is some good logic man... USB battery.... This baterry is really helping the USB to prove that it is universal in real sense..
January 18, 2009 2:04 AM
Don't be fooled with it's USB interface.
This thing sucks and to charge this battery you'll have to leave it ON for 4 hours at minimum.
The price for 2 USB batteries is $20. Add $4 dollars and you'll get 8 rechargeable batteries.
It'll get discharged faster than other regular rechargeable batteries.
the only thing about this battery is being GREEN. they say it's recyclable and earth friendly. Instead of being cheaper, they are charging pretty high.
January 18, 2009 10:29 PM
This is quite an innovation. Flash drive and battery into one package, isn't it cool...? I should say this a great stuff, very viable.
January 20, 2009 1:00 PM
I swear this is the coolest thing ever! You should post more cool gadgets like this!
January 20, 2009 9:00 PM
Cool gadget, In futur how many devices will support USB????.
January 21, 2009 12:39 PM
Looks nice, but how do you know when it is done charging? I don't see any lights there... Still a good idea.
January 22, 2009 5:20 AM
You are really a great fan of USB pen drives. I can see that.
January 24, 2009 1:46 AM
This battery is really helpful but i have one doubt that are they safe to use?
hello.bansal
January 25, 2009 5:05 PM
Hmm...I need that batteries for my digital photocamera. Didn't realised it's possible with USB (recharching)
January 29, 2009 5:05 AM
Nice and cool usb drive this is.
January 29, 2009 9:09 PM
Hey great find! At least now we can leave the bulky battery charger at home.
Plus, I dont think one can get sacked for charging usb batteries from their computer because I get to charge my cellphone at work and I dont get sacked.
January 31, 2009 4:08 AM
woow this is so look like the dry cell.
February 2, 2009 8:31 AM
You have some really neat gadgets on your site :) I have a usb powered mug, though it really doesn't work, it's pretty sweet anyway.
I am looking to network with some quality bloggers like yourself. If you are interested stop by and drop me an email. Guest post, link exchange, interview... they are all options.
Cheers,
Eric
February 3, 2009 6:29 AM
What about the brand. Are these shaped things be available in good brands? I guess not.
February 3, 2009 5:26 PM
What a great gadget! My sons run their gameboys into the ground and then latch onto the nearest outlet - I still remember losing a kid at the railway station and finding him sitting UNDER the public telephone because there was an outlet there where the cleaners plug in their vacs and floor polishers.
February 3, 2009 5:30 PM
LOL!! First thing out of my 17 year old son's mouth - you mean I could take my batteries to school and charge them off the school's electricity??
February 4, 2009 2:48 PM
That's actually one of the coolest things I've seen in some time. My digital camera, for example, is always sucking down batteries. How convenient it would be if we could recharge them from a laptop rather than having to fool with a charger.
February 4, 2009 6:31 PM
Yeah its very handy to charge things while surfing the net.
February 9, 2009 12:10 PM
is so nice product and cool...
February 9, 2009 4:55 PM
this is interesting. how much?
February 10, 2009 11:58 AM
kewl!! interesting site. a little diggie.
February 12, 2009 9:06 AM
I know someone who have it..It seems that this battery is very useful, but in the other side, it's rather hot.
But still, COOL!!
4 thumbs up..(including toes xD)
February 13, 2009 10:28 AM
so creative gadget and cool :)
February 18, 2009 11:23 PM
Another wonderful bit of silliness. What will they think of next?
February 19, 2009 11:28 AM
I don't see how they could fire you. All you have to say is that it is a memory stick plus I am sure they wouldn't even notice the discrepancy even if they tore through the bill.
February 20, 2009 3:50 AM
i like this USB . . where i can buy ? hehehe :)
February 21, 2009 10:27 AM
This is a good way to charge your batteries in the office:) This is a good item to add on my collection of weird gadgets: like my tennis racket mosquito killer.:)
February 21, 2009 12:44 PM
Hmmm... amazing.I won't give a second thought when a candle can be light through USB too... Technology seems to be far from reach.
February 23, 2009 9:41 AM
Great thing! Hope this product finds its way to wallmart type of stores around the world.
February 23, 2009 11:38 AM

March 12, 2009 2:36 PM
Rechargeable batteries are greener because you won't have to throw them away very often, you can just simply recharged them to last longer.
March 15, 2009 6:47 AM
I'd love to have these USB batteries. They're cool and they're green. Space savers, too. Thanks for pointing me to the right direction :)
March 16, 2009 2:01 AM
This would be really interesting. I really hate the thought of disposable in whatever aspect. At least I want it to last.
March 19, 2009 11:00 AM
Cool gadget! I would buy it definitely but can it store data?
March 19, 2009 11:49 AM

I didn't understand what you mean by browser based mmorpg. I have to check it out. Thanks for the information.
March 23, 2009 3:25 AM
good stuff-I followed your advice and went and did some browsing and one of the sites I found for Master resale rights was Resale Enterprises-looks good-I’m excited to get started!
March 29, 2009 5:53 PM
Great gadget, but not really to good on the wallet. About $17.50USD for one of these, not going to switch over to them yet. I don't use many battery powered devices, and the ones I do use I don't use often enough. When the prices on this stuff starts to go down I may look at it again
April 7, 2009 5:49 PM
I hope these cool usb cells will be offered in a much lower price so that many people can afford to buy them. :D
April 9, 2009 3:17 AM
Amazing!! Its quiet interesting. I didn't really understand about browser based mmorpg. Give a hint about that. Anyways I'll check about it.
Thank You.
April 10, 2009 4:48 AM
the name of the new flash drive is so funny.
April 10, 2009 4:50 AM
They're cool and they're green. Space savers, too. Thanks for pointing me to the right direction :)
April 13, 2009 1:02 AM
What a bald guy told me about technology! has been deleted from Entrecard I suppose because there hasn't been a new post since December. Perhaps you can be reinstated if you post more often. Thank you for all the drops on the RLCC site. May God Bless.
April 22, 2009 6:19 AM
This is one of the best invention. Charging batteries via a USB port is simply genius!! Might come in handy.. for me one day since i carry my laptop on all my vacations and trips
April 24, 2009 5:18 AM
Great gadget!!.. Not much use for people like me...I don't use many battery powered devices, and the ones I do use I don't use often enough
April 25, 2009 7:46 AM
Wow! I like the look of this USB batteries. They're unique and they're rechargeable. Thank you for sharing this great find to us :D

May 13, 2009 4:02 AM
Nice looking flash drive.
May 13, 2009 4:08 AM
I don't think the 5 hours is all that bad, considering that you can charge batteries while working on a comp or laptop,
May 13, 2009 4:14 AM
And what the life expectancy is of the usb batteries. It would be a perfect pit for my digital camera which just eats up batteries.
May 17, 2009 9:38 AM
5 hours is all my son's remote controlled helicopter needs. He'd have a long time playing with those USB batteries. I think I'd buy a couple for him. Thanks :)
May 20, 2009 12:13 PM
That is actually a pretty brilliant idea. Who says all the good inventions are taken already?
June 1, 2009 10:01 PM
This gadget is great and the technology used in working of gadget is one of its kind. This innovative idea can lead to a lot of cahnges in the world if it is applied in the right way.
June 3, 2009 7:57 AM
Really looks like a cell.Good work, like to see more of these.
June 11, 2009 8:55 AM
Hehe, I do not think that they're gonna fire a business developer for example for charging a battery. But… you should think twice before doing it. lol
June 12, 2009 1:22 AM
really cool idea.. I should sell it in my country
June 17, 2009 6:44 PM
That is a nice invention and, of course, there will be a great demand for it. I think that this USBCell will serve as a great corporate gift and will be admired by employees.

July 6, 2009 9:49 AM
Pretty good idea - pity I didn't think of that one. I do think that they might not have the best life but that's not a major problem...
July 6, 2009 7:17 PM
Haha pretty cool, though my favourite USB is the "doomsday device", gotta open the casing, flick two switches at the same time and BOOM!, it works.
July 12, 2009 8:39 AM
Amazing. I am gonna listen to my ipod for days now as I do not have to watch for a socket.
July 13, 2009 11:15 PM

How can I learn about new technology terms before the general public? FIOS, for examples is becoming a new popular term, but how could I have learned about it many years ago?
Is there a positive technological digest that someone can recommend me to which focuses on BRAND new technology?
